It has been replaced by two new regional tournaments, the Asia Championship and the EMEA Invitational, which will take place later this month.

For India in 2022, Garena has revealed an intriguing schedule of Free Fire competitions. Building on a successful esports year in 2021, Free Fire will hold four mega events across two professional circuits the following year, with a combined prize pool of over INR 2.7 crore.

Garena will ensure that Free Fire players and fans anticipate a constant pipeline of esports events in India throughout the year with a rhythm of one big tournament every quarter. The competitions will be accessible to all ambitious teams and players and allow everyone to go up against the best on a national level. Over time, these will pave the way for Free Fire's international competitions, some of the most eagerly awaited and followed mobile esports events worldwide. Garena said that further smaller-scale community-focused competitions are in the works and will be disclosed shortly.

The Free Fire Pro League (FFPL) event and the Free Fire India Championship (FFIC) final will be the two preliminary competitions that make up Garena's 2022 Esports roadmap. The prize pool for each professional season will exceed INR 1.35 crore.

In chronological sequence, Garena's four massive Free Fire competitions in India in 2022 are as follows:

  1. Free Fire India Championship 2022 Spring
  2. Free Fire Pro League 2022 Summer
  3. Free Fire India Championship 2022 Fall
  4. Free Fire Pro League 2022 Winter

The first event of the season, FFIC 2022 Spring, will mark the start of the 2022 Pro Esports Circuit. As a result, the top 6 teams from the FFPL 2021 Winter will automatically qualify for the FFIC 2022 Spring (more on the FFIC 2022 Spring later).

Each FFIC will serve as a national qualifying event for the Free Fire international competitions. The event will gather the top teams from all across India to fight for a prize fund of INR 1 crore, the distinction of being the finest team in India, and the much sought-after chance to represent their country in the international arena.

There are two possibilities for teams to qualify for the FFIC league stage:

  1. Reach the top six in the previous season's Free Fire Pro League competition.
  2. Reach the FFIC closed qualifying stage and place in the top 12.

Through the in-game mode Free Fire Cup, any aspiring Esports teams and players can participate in the open qualifications. The best teams from the Free Fire Cup advance to the closed qualifications, where they will compete against the teams who finished seventh through twelfth in the Free Fire Pro League. These clubs will face off for the remaining 12 spots in the FFIC league stage.

The 18 clubs competing in the FFIC league stage will then face off against one another in several games during the league. While the remaining 12 teams battle in the play-ins for the other 6 spots, the top 6 teams go straight to the grand finals.

Free Fire Pro League

The top 6 teams from the open qualifiers and the 12 champions from the previous season's FFIC will make up the 18 teams in each Pro League event. Teams participate in each Pro League event for a prize fund of INR 35 lakhs and a top-seed entrance for the next FFIC.

The teams that finish seventh through twelfth will be able to bypass the open qualifiers stage of the next FFIC by moving straight to the closed qualifiers, while the top six teams will secure their positions directly in the next FFIC league stage.

The top 6 winners from the FFPL 2021 Winter will be immediately seeded into the league stage of the FFIC 2022 Spring. The remaining six finalists from the FFPL 2021 Winter will fight for the remaining 12 spots in the league stage in the closed qualifiers against teams who advance from the open qualifiers. The top 12 teams from the league stage will advance to the FFIC 2022 Spring championship game.
