Top 5 CSGO Teams

Community May 3, 2022

The competitive Counter-Strike: Global Offensive circuit has had a tumultuous year. The majority of recent competitions have been conducted online. However, the scene recently witnessed its first LAN in over 500 days at IEM Cologne, where Na'Vi defeated the world's top team in a best-of finals for the second time in four months.

The top five on this list are fiercely competitive, with the top three having the upper hand more frequently than not. The greatest players on the planet are now competing in the finals of every event and creating fantastic games for top CSGO teams.

With LAN making a full-fledged comeback, it's critical to determine which teams were most successful in the online era and who can carry that success to the big stage. Who are the best Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) teams in the world?

When it comes to the top teams in the virtual era of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, one name stands out. For over half a year, Gambit Esports in the CIS area has been very dominant. These young guns were initially part of the Gambit Youngsters academy squad, but due to the previous lineup's failures, they were given a chance on the main roster. Then came a rise right out of a fairy tale.

Gambit put off a fantastic run at IEM Katowice 2021, just four months after being promoted to the first squad, to win the organization's first major title since the PGL Krakow Major. During their run, they only lost five of 21 maps, including three playoff matches versus CIS opponents Na'Vi, Team Spirit, and

Gambit has proven they are more than a craze, as some speculated earlier in their journey to the top. Consistent performance is recognized, hence why they maintain their high placements in tournaments even when they don't win all of them.

Natus Vincere:

Natus Vincere was not among the long-time favorites who struggled to retain passion and performance during the internet era, like Astralis and Team Liquid. Because of the global pandemic, Na'Vi was capable of winning the last CS:GO LAN tournament for a while. Their triumph at IEM Katowice 2020 marked the end of the LAN era before the internet era began. While Na'Vi struggled to reach the same levels, they were still able to place in the top four in practically every event they competed in.

Unlike Gambit, Na'Vi already had a LAN-proven and seasoned roster. They'd be the ones to come out of the gate with their tails between their legs. After an undefeated run through five matches, Na'Vi won the IEM Cologne championship with a 3-0 sweep of G2 in the Grand Finals. Considering the 500-day gap between them, Na'Vi became back-to-back LAN champions with this victory.

Heroic's meteoric rise has been one of the year's biggest surprises. Heroic fell short in the EPL finals rematch against Gambit at DH Masters, despite numerous remarkable championship placings in a row following great performances, while S1mple led Na'Vi to an impressive run. However, just because they came up short once does not mean they are less of a menace.

Heroic experienced a resurgence around the beginning of the year, despite having fewer heights towards the conclusion of 2020. So far in 2021, they've finished in the top four of five different events. Heroic also won their second major title at ESL Pro League S13, defeating Gambit in a tense five-game Grand Finals.

Heroic's recent results at IEM Summer, as well as the IEM Cologne LAN, have been disappointing. They're also dealing with coaching concerns that will most likely take some time to fix. Despite this, Heroic must not be overlooked since their roster is still quite powerful.

Credits to is another team that reached its pinnacle during the online era. Despite taking some time to get up to speed, the CIS squad has remained a constant danger in their zone. During the forced online play, polished their talents by playing against the two greatest teams in the world, Gambit and Na'Vi, on a regular basis.

VP has defeated those teams on several occasions and has even been able to compete in tournaments as a result of their success. They've won trophies at IEM New York Online, Flashpoint 2, DreamHack Open December, and Cs Summit 7 in recent years. Furthermore, VP came exceedingly close to victory at IEM Katowice before falling in the Grand Finals to Gambit.

VP has never finished outside the top 10 teams ever since their IEM Katowice run, and they are a regular in the top five. While it can be difficult to distinguish yourself from other teams in your region that are leading the charge, VP is a highly capable squad that can defeat any team on any given day.

G2 Esports:

G2 rose to prominence just as the internet era began. Their second-place finish at IEM Katowice 2020 demonstrated that this G2 lineup was capable of winning championships. Other early results from that year, such as second-place finishes at ESL Road to Rio and DreamHack Masters Spring, demonstrated their potential. However, as the online play progressed, G2 experienced the same problems as many other well-known teams.

Their consistently high rankings began to dwindle, and they no longer reached the same peaks. G2 acquired star rifler Nikola "NiKo" Kovac from FaZe Clan in late 2020, making it one of the most significant transfers in CS:GO history. However, the results did not improve right away. G2 began their ascent back to the top only after moving Kenny "kennyS" Schrub to the sideline and allowing NiKo to pick up the AWP.

Let's fast forward to the month of May 2021. G2 began a streak that featured five top-four results in major competitions in a row. G2's triumph peaked at the IEM Cologne LAN, when they swept through their group, defeating world number one Gambit. Over 500 days after defeating Astralis in the semi-finals, G2 reached their second consecutive LAN final. As LAN continues to return, despite not winning the gold, G2 has definitely made themselves true contenders. They are more than likely to end their trophy drought in the near future.
