Top 10 Esports Apparel Brand Collaborations for Merchandise

Over the last ten years, the Esports sector has grown tremendously, with hundreds of top teams competing in events with substantial prize pools and corporate support. Traditional sports-oriented companies like Adidas, Nike, and Puma are creating clothes and gear specifically for Esports and gaming. With major teams like Fnatic and G2 Esports, luxury brands like Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Armani, and Ralph Lauren have also entered the Esports market.

Some groups, like 100 Thieves, get their official merchandise from well-known companies like Foundation Clothing Co. With the gaming audience in North America (NA) and Asia-Pacific becoming more brand savvy, established businesses are attempting to reintroduce themselves to a younger audience and broaden their reach. We examine several significant Esports gear brand alliances in gaming and Esports.

1. Team Vitality, North Esports, Grow uP Esports, Ninja x Adidas

The world's largest sportswear brand, Adidas, has worked with many Esports personalities, including Tyler 'Ninja' Blevins, a Fortnite broadcaster, and Team Vitality on a pair of sneakers. The company and Puma are still at odds, even in Esports. Adidas served as Team Heretics' technical sponsor, and the official clothing partner for the Portuguese Grow uP Esports and Danish North Esports. As of right present, G2 Esports has agreements with both Adidas and Ralph Lauren.

Adidas and Tyler "Ninja" Blevins collaborated on a pair of limited-edition sneakers in December 2019. According to the streamer, the shoes were sold out within 40 minutes of being on sale. The Time-In Nite Joggers were first listed on internet marketplaces like StockX for $150 before going for upwards of $200. Additionally, Adidas and Ninja teamed up again in August 2020 to release the Ninja x Adidas Superstar, a much more subdued shoe, and a "EMBRACE THE GRIND" apparel line in November of the same year. Adidas was most recently named as one of G2's key partners and the official supplier of athletic equipment in January 2021.

2. Gen.G Esports, Natus Vincere (Na'vi), EVOS Esports, Cloud9 x Puma

Puma, another sports company that entered the Esports arena, has agreements with several legendary teams, like Gen.G Esports, Natus Vincere (Na'vi), EVOS Esports, Cloud9, Futbolist, and Order, for the production of official Puma uniforms and joint apparel collections. About the many partnerships,

Matt Shaw, senior strategist for Esports and brand innovation at Puma, says, Roughly 75% of the company's US male clients are frequent viewers of gaming broadcasts. The overlap grows as more content consumers become Esports enthusiasts, which isn't exactly a tremendous behavioral jump, he claims. He stated that thanks to these relationships, PUMA is closer than ever to being the world's leading Esports clothing business. The crossover is potentially tremendous.

3. LPL x Nike

As the official shoe and apparel supplier for the Chinese competition, Nike confirmed their relationship with the League of Legends Pro League (LPL) in February 2019. To represent mobility and togetherness, the 2019 Nike x LPL partnership saw the debut of branded team jerseys with a similar chevron design on the breast.

With a range of shoes and casual apparel, Nike has agreed to a four-year contract with LPL. However, the LPL removed the Nike brand from its feeds in March 2021. According to a report from the Esports Observer, the LPL Spring Split Week 10 Nike-branded apparel was covered up due to an uproar over labor conditions in the Xinjiang area of China's cotton fields.

4. Riot Games x Louis Vuitton

Throughout the 2019 Worlds Championship, Riot Games and the French fashion house Louis Vuitton worked together. The trophy case for Worlds that year was created by the fashion company.

The company also unveiled a clothing collection to match the Prestige True Damage skins for Qiyana and Senna. A worldwide partner of the 2019 League of Legends World Championship was Louis Vuitton.

5. Fnatic x Gucci

Gucci and European Esports powerhouse Fnatic collaborated to create a limited-edition watch available only online via Gucci's webshop for $1,620. An advertisement for the watch featured players from Fnatic's League of Legends team, including Martin "Rekkles" Larsson, Zdravets "Hylissang" Galabov, Tim "Nemesis" Lipovek, Gabril "Bwipo" Rau, and Oskar "Selfmade" Boderek. The watch's 100 pieces have all been purchased.

6. G2 Esports x Ralph Lauren

Ralph Lauren joined forces with G2 Esports in June 2021 as their official fashion partner. One of the top G2 Esports players, Martin "Rekkles" Larsson, was highlighted in the Wimbledon campaign for Ralph Lauren.

The founder and CEO of G2 Esports, Carlos "Ocelote" Rodriguez, remarked, "Today is one of the most significant days in both my life and the history of G2." A company I have appreciated for a long time has joined the G2 family. With their assistance, we will prosper and improve how we amuse you. In addition to working together on several campaigns and events in 2021, G2 and Ralph Lauren also introduced several digital-first activations on websites like TikTok and Twitch.

7. Mkers x Armani Exchange

In May 2019, Italian Esports organization Mkers announced Armani Exchange as its official jersey sponsor. Along with Rainbow Six, Mkers has fielded teams for Starcraft II, FIFA 19, Clash Royale, Street Fighter V, and Brawl Stars. Additionally, Mkers formerly had an Overwatch squad. The organization's shirt used the collaboration's A X logo.

Esports Observer claims that in October, Mkers signed a one-year contract with Gillette Italy, including creating Instagram content.

8. FaZe Clan x G-SHOCK

Electronics producer Casio America collaborated with the Esports group to produce a limited-edition G-SHOCK watch in celebration of FaZe Clan's 10-year milestone. The red tiger camo pattern of the watch, unveiled in November 2020, was inspired by the FaZe Clan. It has an etching commemorating the anniversary of the Esports organization and the FaZe Clan emblem on the front. Additionally, the watch contained an electro-luminescent backlight that, when illuminated, showed "FAZE UP" within the digital display. The watch immediately ran out of stock, like many other limited-edition goods on the list.

9. NBA 2K League - Champion

According to Esports Insider, popular sports apparel company Champion has been named the NBA 2K League's official partner. Champion donated clothing and game jerseys to all 21 clubs in the league as part of the multi-year relationship. SCUF Gaming, HyperX, Intel, Alienware, State Farm, New Era, and Nike's Jordan line also partner with NBA 2K League. Champion has worked with FaZe Clan in the past.

10. Team Liquid x tokidoki

Tokidoki, an Italian fashion company with roots in the Kawaii movement of Japan, teamed up with Team Liquid in November 2020 to produce a line of clothing and accessories. To advertise its products, the business also assumed control of the social media accounts of the Esports league.

With an Apple iPad and Pencil up for grabs, Liquid also held an art competition as part of the cooperation. At Team Liquid, apparel is simultaneously a product, content, and engagement, according to Logan Leavitt, the company's apparel business manager. When contemplating a partnership within that framework, they look for synergy in all three areas. With tokidoki, they discovered those components in a unified sense of playfulness, creativity, and geek culture.
