The T1 League of Legends team tries Valorant

Newsroom Dec 1, 2022

After Worlds 2022, the T1 League of Legends team tries Valorant on Choi "Zeus" Woo-je's livestream with unexpected results.

Overview:

  • On a recent November stream, top laner Choi “Zeus” Woo-je was goofing around in ARAM and Summoner’s Rift, then Overwatch 2, before switching to Valorant.
  • The five-man stack unexpectedly won the first map even though they were down 4-8 because the opposing team abruptly surrendered before swapping sides.

The League of Legends T1 team is back in South Korea, completing its streaming commitments after spending a month away from home participating at Worlds 2022. During a recent November webcast, top laner Choi "Zeus" Woo-Je was having fun in ARAM, Summoner's Rift, Overwatch 2, and Valorant. His teammates joined him for two unranked games on Haven and Ascent.

The T1 League of Legends team will never switch its professional players to Valorant

Despite being down 4-8 on the first map, the five-man stack surprise won as the enemy team immediately capitulated before switching sides. The team's oldest player, Lee "Faker" Sang-hyeok, demonstrated that he is still the GOAT, at least within the LoL squad in more than one Riot Games title on the second map, Ascent, when they were tested to their limits. Their pro-player talents weren't precisely transferable since FPS is all on reaction speed and demands different mechanics than the MOBA League of Legends.

After losing the round with a 2-7 deficit on the opening map Haven, Faker was heard saying, "Kids! I murdered all three by myself! Hyung (elder brother in Korean), you have a lot of money, Zeus retorted. Can you get me a firearm? Order it for me! Order it for me! Faker responded, "I'll spot you," which pleased Zeus. The LoL squad then chose Phoenix, Neon, and Jett as its three Ascent duelists and added initiator Sova and controller Brimstone to complete their agent lineup.

They began out on defense; thus, they lacked a sentinel who could anchor site, flank, and stall advances with abilities. The team struggled on defense before losing 5-13 because they could not make up for the rounds offensively. Faker's ACS was the highest at 236, even though everyone had a poor KDA, which is presumably why the algorithm voted him team MVP. Even more intriguing is that Faker, who played for Phoenix, had no assists throughout 18 rounds, which is quite unusual in a 5v5 team-based game. Not bad for the team's oldest member, who is 26 years old. The whole VOD for November 22 is available here on Zeus' AfreecaTV channel.
