The game was being produced by Ubisoft's Indian labs in Pune and Mumbai, using the Anvil gaming engine. In September 2020, the trailer for Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake was released. Ever since the project has been in development in India by the video game developer Ubisoft. It was scheduled to be released in January 2021. Unfortunately, it's been postponed until now.

The project was being created by Ubisoft's Indian labs in Mumbai and Pune, which were using the Anvil gaming engine. Annu Koul, the game's senior producer, told the press that the Anvil engine was being used to create open-world games and that Prince of Persia was a shorter, linear game with multiple problems.
When the trailer was released, the game received a lot of fire for its graphics, texturing, and overall design. However, the game's director, Pierre Sylvain-Gires, indicated that the studio was focusing on developing a "distinct" appearance. The director stated, "It isn't another Assassin's Creed, nor is it the similar Price of Persia from 2008."
