"For the new season, PUBG Mobile is collaborating with the latest installation of the MCU film franchise – Spider-Man: No Way Home." PUBG did some amazing collaborations in the past few years. We'll be talking about all those collaborations in today's blog.
PUBG: Battlegrounds (previously known as PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds) is a battle royale game developed and published by PUBG Studios, a subsidiary of Krafton. The game, which was inspired by the 2000 Japanese film Battle Royale, is based on previous mods created by Brendan "PlayerUnknown" Greene for other games and expanded into a standalone game under Greene's creative direction. In the game, up to one hundred players parachute onto an island where they scavenge for weapons and equipment to kill other players while avoiding getting killed themselves. The available safe area of the game's map decreases in size over time, directing surviving players into an ever-tightening space to force encounters. The last surviving player (or team) wins the round. It is the first game in the PUBG Universe series.
- ‘PUBG Mobile’ X ‘Dragon Ball’
The collaboration is meant to commemorate the premiere of Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, a Dragon Ball film that was first shown in Japan in June and then in the rest of the world in September and August. It's likely that the event will focus on the characters and plot of the latest movie as the press release expressly addresses it rather than Dragon Ball as a whole.
Dragon Ball just finished a different collaboration with Fornite, another battle royale. This partnership added in-game cosmetics, emotes, missions and of course, the useable Kamehameha. Also included was a recreation of Kame Island where players could trade with Bulma for powerful items. The exact details of the collaboration are currently unknown but we have kept our hopes high.
- PUBG Mobile X BoBoiBoy
A forthcoming partnership between the Malaysian animated series BoBoiBoy and PUBG Mobile was formally revealed. PUBG Mobile announced the agreement on their social media channels by posting a sample. Tencent regularly announces new partnerships and collaborations with well-known companies and personalities. These partnerships result in the addition of additional skins, content, and other things to the game. The forthcoming outfit and additional skins in the game were previewed in the PUBGM x BoBoiBoy cooperation teaser. Soon, players will have the opportunity to purchase the outfit and skins through the in-game event hub.
The PUBG Mobile game recently received a new update that added new features, maps, and other content. Players can update the game right away and begin investigating the new features and map. Watch this space for more PUBG Mobile news about this partnership. The collaboration between PUBG Mobile and BoBoiBoy is just one of the several regional partnerships that will debut this year. Players could enter the combat using the unique BoBoiBoy 3D parachute, set, and cap in this cooperation.
- PUBG Mobile X Spider-Man: No Way Home
PUBG Mobile and the then-upcoming movie “Spider-Man No Way Home” teamed up for a special video game collaboration. The partnership will bring freebies and tons of goodies for battle royale players.
“Partnering with Spider-Man No Way Home means that we can bring exciting experiences from this title to PUBGM, which our community of players as well as Spider-Man fans will respond warmly to,” said Director of Global Publishing of PUBG Mobile Vincent Wang.
The gameplay features Spider-Man himself in Erangel. Marvel’s widely beloved superhero will make its first appearance once players hop onto the plane. It definitely seems a lot similar to Jinx’s animation last season. During the match, Spider-Man will spawn in a particular location on the map to fight a giant robot. Players can travel to the spot and loot special crates for Spider-Man-like superpowers that will make them swing and climb to any rooftop instantly. All that said, the gameplay definitely feels like a setback from Arcane’s – Mirror World event mode which allowed players to respawn multiple times.
- ‘PUBG Mobile’ X BlackPink
In August 2021, PUBG MOBILE teamed up with KPOP sensation BlackPink, filling Erangel with all sorts of BlackPink-themed drops. The collaboration introduced an in-game concert named “The Virtual”. BLACKPINK wins Best Metaverse Performance for “The Virtual” at the 2022 MTV VMAs. And the store had skins for each of the four girls and a huge pile of other awesome cosmetics – including a really nice collection of emotes, of course! This was the second collaboration between PUBG Mobile and BLACKPINK. Previously, the popular female K-Pop group produced “The Album,” which had been used as the lobby music in PUBG Mobile.
And there was a chance you’d actually get to go up against them in the game!
- PUBG Mobile X The Boys
PUBG Mobile has announced a collaboration with Sony Pictures Consumer Products, Sony Pictures Television, and Prime Video to deliver players unique content from the Emmy-nominated subversive superhero series The Boys.
“The Boys is a groundbreaking TV series that has forever changed the entertainment industry with its irreverent take on superheroes,” said Anthony Crouts, Senior Director of Marketing for PUBG Mobile. “We always strive to deliver fresh new content to our players and this collaboration gives us the amazing opportunity to integrate real-time elements of The Boys’ new season directly into PUBG Mobile.”
In conjunction with the June 3rd release of The Boys season 3 on Prime Video, players will be able to purchase a variety of exclusive cooperation items, such as the recognizable super suits of Homelander, Starlight, and Soldier Boy, as well as accessory items like weapon skins, backpacks, and a special Supes parachute.
- PUBG Mobile x Dodge
Following the announcement of PUBG Mobile's collaboration with Dragon Ball Super a few weeks ago, developer Tencent Games has now revealed that the game will be partnering up with supercar giant Dodge as well.
The news was made official by a trailer released on the game's YouTube channel. The Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody and the Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody are two attractive cars from the American performance vehicle company that will be included in the collaboration, according to the clip. The game has enjoyed a series of immensely successful collaborations in the recent past. The latest one will see the first of a series of upgraded vehicles in the title, creating a considerable buzz amongst players and fans of the game. The PUBG Mobile Limited Edition Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody will also be a great addition to the game. The muscle car features a 6.2L engine and will be available in two colors, Fuschia and Tuscan Torque.
That's all about some of these interesting collaborations between PUBG Mobile and different companies, Brands, Production houses, etc. We hope this blog gave you an insight into PUBG's marketing strategies using collaborations.
