Odoamne, Excel reportedly reach a verbal agreement ahead of the 2023 LEC season
Veteran League of Legends player and Rogue top laner Andrei "Odoamne" Pascu has verbally agreed to join Excel Esports.
Overview:
- Excel Esports has reportedly reached a verbal agreement with Odoamne at the 11th hour, leaving Finn vulnerable in the 2023 LEC offseason.
- Reigning LCS Summer champions are reportedly signing two mid-laners from the European Regional Leagues.
Today's crazy LEC offseason continues as Excel seems to have verbally agreed to have Rogue top laner Andrei "Odoamne" Pascu, who will replace Finn "Finn" Wiestl, until 2023.

Odoamne will be joining the squad quite unexpectedly, according to Alejandro "anonimotum" Gomis' most recent report. Finn, a former top laner in the LEC, may have difficulty finding a squad at this late date. Fans were already aware that Odoamne was looking for a new team because it has been reported that Mathias "Szygenda" Jensen will replace him on KOI/Rogue when the upcoming season begins.

Chaotic LEC season made more volatile as Odoamne lands in XL
The offseason is reportedly just starting, and the LEC is experiencing chaos. Odoamne is one of several well-known athletes who are now switching teams. The hopes of others would inevitably be dashed when a recent LEC champion and Worlds quarterfinalist like Odoamne is on the market.

Finn seems to be getting the short end of the stick in this situation ahead of the 2023 season, as his time with Excel Esports is ending. Finn has performed well for Excel this season, but all signs point to Odoamne taking his position once again. As Odoamne seems to take Finn's position, history appears to be repeating itself: in 2021, the Romanian top laner joining Rogue resulted in a similar situation.

Oh
Finn could be without a team for 2023; sources state
It's obvious at this point that a lot has occurred in the background during the previous several days or even hours. Brieuc "LEC Wooloo" Seeger provided some explanation shortly after the announcement of Odoamne's death by stating that Finn was meant to remain on Excel. However, the squad was allowed to seize Odoamne, and they did it.
This is confirmed by sources close to Jaxon as well; thus, Finn probably hasn't had a chance to look for alternatives up to this point. It could be difficult for Finn to reach an agreement at this stage, at least in the LEC, with players having been out looking for clubs for many weeks.
Excel qualified for the postseason in both the Spring and Summer Splits this season, making it to the LEC playoffs for the first time in team history. Although the club was eliminated from the playoffs in the first round each time, breaking one of the longest postseason droughts in European League history was a huge relief for the organisation.
To add context on XL Odoamne: Finn himself was initially told he'd stay on Excel but with how unexpected this offseason is shaping up to be, XL ended up in a position that could secure them Odoamne, so they did it. Nobody saw this coming 2 days ago. pic.twitter.com/AyQL3TKrs9

Depending on the other off-season transfers made by the squad, Excel might immediately become a contender in the European league if they add Odoamne, the current LEC champion, to the mix.
