Mouz and Outsiders are in the semi-finals.
We have the first two semi-finalists for IEM Rio CSGO Major following two thriller matches that saw the likes of Cloud9 and Fnatic bomb out of the tournament despite putting up some impressive displays.
The first game of the semi-final saw Outsiders clash with the new look Fnatic who impressed ever since the beginning of the tournament. Having clashed previously in the event that went the way of the Outsiders, Fnatic had qualification on the line and a prime opportunity for revenge.
Outsiders looked shaky but they managed to always find a way, the match against Fnatic was nothing like that. Outsiders came in with a solid game plan as they looked well drilled right from the get go.
Fnatic lost their own pick Inferno and did not pose much of a threat to Outsiders at any point. Having started the CT side in a dominant fashion, Outsider's T-side had an answer for everything as well and an exchange of rounds saw them get to 16 when Fnatic only managed 11.
The following map Mirage did not make things better for Fnatic, instead, they managed to post even less number of rounds and Outsiders quickly closed everything out.
The last game of the day, which produced arguably the biggest upset of the major so far. Cloud9 the favourites to win the tournament has been knocked out at the hands of a highly inexperienced team in Mouz. The latter has shown up in the event with shockingly good form and this might be their best ever standing in a Major.
With a team of 3 Academy players and around two experienced individuals, no one expected Mouz to perform the way they did and with every game, they are making their fans believe that they can go all the way.
The next two quarter finals games start at 22:30 and 02:00 IST later today and will be live streamed on Twitch.
