Minecraft developers won’t allow NFTs on the gaming platform at all!
In this blog, we will be getting into why does Minecraft is so much against NFTs and blockchain in their recent blog.
Minecraft recently released a blog named "Minecraft and NFTs".
They properly stated in the blog why they will not allow NFTs in the game.
One of the reasons being they do not want the players to focus on profiteering.
It seems that NFTs and blockchain currencies are still not completely accepted in the gaming world. There have been many gaming companies who have openly accepted using NFTs and have even encouraged their players to do so too! However, many gaming companies are still rejecting the idea of NFTs or at least want to stay away from the whole concept. One such company to join the list is Mojang. In today’s blog, we will be getting into why the Monicraft developers recently posted a blog about NFTs, and what they want to say exactly.
What is Mojang’s Take on NFTs?
Minecraft is probably one of the most wholesome games, and people usually find the game most safe from the outside currencies and getting cheated on and all those things. You get most of the weapons and skins inside the game and do need to go to some third source or such to customize your character. There are servers where you need to get into a transaction with other people. They are usually made safely and also, in-game there are not many huge transactions that you need to make. Hence, Mojang makes sure to keep things and policies extremely simple and authentic.
However, recently some rumours said there was a high chance that Minecraft might come up with NFTs and allow its transactions. It also kind of made sense, as Minecraft is a place where you can unleash your creativity, and hence it would be extremely profitable to make NFTs in Minecraft, and it would be extremely interesting too. One can easily make different sorts of NFTs and cryptos inside the game, and almost everything can be considered an asset in the game.
However, this might be the very reason why Mojang does not want to get into NFTs and blockchains. Mojang has recently published a blog where they have made clear all their policies and terms related to NFTs and cryptocurrencies. They have mentioned it clearly that they want nothing to do with NFTs and such, and if any player is going to deal with the currency, they might face the consequence of banning and such. Also, if any player gets scammed through NFTs and such, then they will not get any help from Mojang’s side.
Another reason why they do not want NFTs in their game is that they feel that blockchains and cryptocurrencies would only promote profiteering, and the players would be more interested in making money in the game rather than just enjoying the game. This would be completely against their values and the ideals for the game they have. Hence, due to the difference in ideas, they will not allow NFTs and blockchains inside the game.
