Representatives of the video game industry encouraged the government in the letter to distinguish between "real money games" and casual "online games." According to many reports, the letter is signed by more than 40 employees from companies like Gametion, SuperGaming, Loco, Rooter, and more. In addition to calling for a distinction between leisure and competitive gaming, the corporation noted several other issues.

The concept of online games was not made explicit in the press release when the GOI (Government of India) granted MeitY the authority to regulate them. As a result, gaming businesses in India are now looking for clarification on what constitutes an online game. It means that the Department of Sports would govern Esports under the YAS Ministry and that the Indian government has officially recognized them as multi-sport events.
