G2 Esports after winning the CS: GO Blast Premier
The eight competing teams were divided into two double-elimination groups, and the competition occurred between December 14 and 18. While the second and third-placed teams proceeded to the quarterfinals, the group winners advanced to the semifinals. The competitors who came last in their group were disqualified from the competition. There was a single-elimination format for the playoffs. A best-of-three format was used for all of the contests. Three of the eight competing teams, G2 Esports, OG, and Team Liquid, were chosen by the BLAST Worldwide Leaderboard, a global rating based on results from several top-tier competitions. The remaining five teams, NAVI (BLAST Premier Spring Final), Heroic (Fall Final), FaZe Clan (ESL Pro League Season 15 and PGL Major Antwerp), Vitality (ESL Pro League Season 16), and Outsiders, were invited after winning tier-one competitions throughout the year (IEM Rio Major).

Even though the Outsiders and the defending BLAST Premier World champions, NAVI, we're competing, G2 Esports ultimately prevailed and earned $500,000 after beating Team Liquid 2-0 in the championship match. Team Liquid seemed helpless in the grand final match, as G2 Esports dominated them with little margin for mistake. G2 Esports advanced to the championship round after defeating Outsiders in the Group A lower final, Vitality in the quarterfinals, and FaZe again in the semifinals after losing the initial series versus FaZe. Since winning the DreamHack Masters Malmö 2017 competition while still fielding an all-French team, this triumph was Team G2 Esports' first significant victory. Justin "jks" Savage and HooXi were the players in the limelight because they were expected to perform under pressure. Jks, a 27-year-old Australian, won the Intel Extreme Masters XVI - Katowice championship while playing for FaZe Clan to start 2022. He then went on to run it back with G2 at the Blast Premier.
HooXi was careful to cover all the bases when directing G2 in search of Aleksib's axe, despite the difficult odds he would have to confront. Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov established himself as the competition's youngest winner when he took home the Most Valuable Player award. The AWPer, who is just 17 years old, completed the record competition with the highest rating in the event, 1.24, across all 12 maps. At first, FaZe Clan entered the competition as the front-runner to win the trophy. FaZe was seen as a championship possibility when Heroic said they would have to attend the tournament without key player Martin "stavn" Lund. However, the PGL Major Antwerp champions were eliminated in the semi-finals after falling to Team Liquid, who couldn't compete with G2 Esports in the championship match. G2 Esports had a tough start to their World Final campaign from the victors' perspective, falling to FaZe Clan 1-2 in their first encounter. After that, however, they recovered well and defeated the underdogs in a 2-0 rout, eliminating the Russian club and securing their spot in the playoffs. Anubis, a community-created map just introduced to the Active Duty map pool, had its tier-one debut at the BLAST Premier World Final. In this in-depth conversation with the three mapmakers, you can learn more about how Anubis was made.
