Everything you need to know about Esports Awards 2022

Presented by 'Esports Awards', it is the esports industry's most prestigious award which is meant to honour all those who have excelled in their particular disciplines. Such disciplinary aspects include streaming, esports host, or as generic as a player's performance over the year in respective games which are recognized worldwide. The award is given out once a year, and all nominees are invited to attend.

Since 2020, Indian players have begun to emerge on the finalist's list. Mortal, a well-known PUBG Mobile player, was nominated for Mobile Player of the Year as well as the prestigious Streamer of the Year award the previous year.

Esports 2022 Announced

The Esports Awards announced its new venue at Resorts World Las Vegas to kick off its 2022 campaign. After three years in London and a shift to Arlington, Texas in 2019, the Esports Awards are stepping up their game with a new location, date, and look for 2022.

The Esports Awards will be held in the Resorts World Theatre, a 5,000-seat entertainment facility, on Tuesday, December 13th, 2022. In addition, for the first time, the prizes will be open to the general public.

The Esports Awards Open, presented in collaboration with the Golf + Gaming Club (GGC), will return in 2022, giving attendees the chance to show off their golf talents. The Esports Awards will also host numerous other events from December 11th to 13th, including its Lifetime Achievement Ceremony and Leadership Summit, which will allow companies, organisations, and industry thought-leaders to discuss and network.

The Esports Awards will also be reorganizing its award categories in 2022, with the new categories being Entertainment, Industry, Creative, Pro, On-Air Talent, and Collegiate.

The community awards have been taken over by Entertainment, which includes the original selection of awards as well as Esports Content Series of the Year, Esports Game of the Year, and a new award called Esports Content Group of the Year.

The Esports Awards 2022 campaign starts now, with nominations open. Key dates include:

  • May 19th: Nominations open
  • June 30th: Finalists for the Entertainment Categories
  • July 28th: Finalists for the Industry Categories
  • August 25th: Finalists for the Creative & Collegiate Categories
  • September 29th: Lifetime Achievement in Esports Class of 2022 reveal
  • October 27th: Finalists for Pro & On-air Categories
  • TBC: Go, Home Show
  • December 13th: Esports Awards 2022

Types of awards

There are primarily 5 types of awards :

Community Awards

Mortal was nominated for the award for the second time in a row. It is given to some of the most well-known figures in the esports community. Streamer of the Year, Esports Content Creator of the Year, Esports Mobile Game of the Year, and a few additional prizes are among them.

Industry Awards

The award is mostly given to persons who work in the gaming industry's back end. It has also won honours such as Esports Journalist of the Year, Publisher of the Year, and others.

Wasif Ahmed is a journalist from India who was nominated for the Esports Journalist award at the Esports Awards in 2021.

Creative awards

Its purpose, as the name suggests, is to celebrate the esports industry's ingenuity. It also features prizes such as Video Production Team of the Year and Photographer of the Year.

Pro Awards

The award honours professional esports athletes. There are prizes for Esports Mobile player of the year, coach of the year, and a variety of other categories. Mortal was nominated for this award in 2020.

On-Air Talent Awards

The award is presented to esports individuals who are frequently visible on stages, such as analysts and hosts.

Aside from these accolades, the Esports award 2021 will feature Colligative Awards.
