Confederation of Indian Industry hosting its first-ever Esports conference in 2022

The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) held the Esports Conference 2022, "Rise of Esports- The Emerging Frontier," on July 15.

The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) hosted the Esports Conference 2022, 'Rise of Esports - The Emerging Frontier,' including leading global sports administrators led by Commonwealth Games Federation CEO Katie Sadleir. Sadlier, a former Olympic swimmer, has spearheaded the inclusion of Esports at the Commonwealth Games, citing the active participation of the under-30 age group in Esports since assuming command last year. On the Commonwealth's website, the whole 2.5bn population of the Commonwealth is projected to be 60% under 30 years old.

Esports will be a pilot event at this year's Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, according to the Commonwealth Games Federation. The future 2022 Asian Games have already declared it a regular medal sport. Several other leaders will be participating in the discussion, including Vlad Marinescu, the International Esports Federation president; Darren Kwan, the president and CEO of the Australian Esports Federation, Vinod Tiwary, the president and CEO of the Esports Federation of India and Lokesh Suji, the director and vice president of the Asian Esports Federation. An online conference will be held for the event.

"It is one of the fascinating trends in Indian sport right now. Indian sports fans are ready to embrace Esports significantly, and India is one of the world's most important rising markets for this genre. As a result, we seize this chance and apply the necessary expertise, frameworks, and institutional methods to realize its potential fully. Esports administrators from across the globe shared their ideas and experiences at the CII Esports conference on the rapidly growing industry globally and in India." Pro Kabaddi League Commissioner and CII National Committee on Sports Chairman, Anupam Goswami, explained.

The following sessions followed the inaugural session in a day-long conference.

  • Session 2: Esports – A Global Perspective
  • Session 3: Taking Esports Mainstream through OTT & Streaming
  • Session 4: Building Esports through crucial investments in India

Throughout its 125-year history, the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has shaped India's growth and contributed to the transformation of the Indian industry's involvement in national development. The Esports sector has grown tremendously in India over the last several years. By the end of this year, the number of Esports players in the nation is predicted to reach one million.

According to an EY report from 2021, India's Esports business is predicted to reach Rs 1100 million in revenue by 2025. By 2022, 100 brands are projected to invest compared to 72 last year as the industry continues to develop.
