Interview Jun 25, 2022

We are back with another episode of Tournatalks. In the fifteenth episode of Tournatalks, we had an insightful discussion on the opportunities in the gaming industry how gaming has influenced the youth, and what are the effects of gaming on young children. We invite gamers, organizers, and much more eminent people from the gaming industry to spread awareness on various issues related to gaming, and Esports, and gain some valuable points from the professionals themselves.

In the fifteenth episode of Tournatalks, we invited Mr. Chakshu Garg who is a Gamer and a YouTuber with over 1.5K+ subscribers. The session was hosted by Khushi from team Tournafest.

Let us take a look at some of the interesting questions from the session.

How did you start your journey in the Gaming Industry?

"I started playing PUBG Mobile three years ago with a regular mobile phone, it used to lag a lot but we'd push ourselves and grind as much as possible. We didn't know it really had a career. When PUBG got banned, I started playing BGMI and I got a new device. That was the time when I realized I can earn through gaming by streaming and making content. It has been great since then." Chakshu said while talking about his journey

What tips would you like to give to the audience?

"It's all about patience and hard work. As you know, everyone faces problems in some way or the other. Similarly, you'll also face problems while playing a game or tournament, just have patience and keep grinding!"

What tips would you give to other entry-fraggers out there?

"As a fragger, I'd only suggest that you keep your focus and keep grinding. Whatever match it be, 1v1 or 1v2, you should keep your calm so that you can get your team out of a difficult situation. It's the task of Fragger only to take the team from a bad situation to a good end. It's all about the focus and grinding!" Advised Chakshu.

Being a BGMI player and a streamer at the same time, how do you manage your time?

"I've my classes and tuitions too but currently, I'm focusing on Esports more. I think if I get good at this, I can have a career in this field so I'm working for that."

What tools or equipment can we use as gamers and streamers?

"I use an OBS wire and splitter so that I can stream without any lag and bot earphones. These are the basics you'd need for gaming and streaming."

What should be the focus of a new BGMI player or someone who is new to the industry?

"If a person is beginning to play, he'll most probably play in a squad. So, your focus should be to work with your teammates and make sure your team is doing good. It's about teamwork and for you as a beginner, grind as much as you can."

What is the mantra that helps you to keep going?

"My mantra is to "never give up". If I'm playing a custom or a match, I know I've to do this and not give up on it. If that is your thought process, you'll always do well."

What are the effects of gaming on youngsters?

"If you have a niche and your goal is clear and you're playing your games accordingly, it won't have any negative effect on you. Suppose, you're into gaming and you know you'll do this in the future, it'll only have positive effects on you because it'll help you grow."

It is often said that gaming makes you violent. Have you ever seen someone who was affected by gaming in that way?

"No, I haven't seen anyone becoming violent because of gaming. If you're using a gun in the game, that doesn't mean you'll do it in real life too. You don't have to follow the virtual world with closed eyes, get your facts clear and keep an open mind!"

Do you think gaming should be regulated to a particular age group?

"There are already regulations. Like on PlayStore, they specify these games are for children who are 14+ or 16+. In fact, the eligible age to play Esports is 16+ as mentioned by Krafton because children become mature by that point."

Do you have any tips for content creation in the gaming field particularly?

"I usually post content related to Competitive gaming and custom. But the most important tip for content creation is quality>quantity. You should focus on the quality of your content, always!"
