Apex Legends' Control & Sensitivity Settings

Strategy May 16, 2022

If you are trying to start Apex Legends and preparing yourself for the mobile version, we are here to lend a helping hand. In today’s blog, we will be getting into some of the sensitivity settings and other things that you should keep in mind. Settings: One of the most important things that one should do is go through the settings and adjust them according to their game style. However, those who are extremely new to the gaming world, or Apex, might have difficulty deciding which settings would be the best for them.

Apex Legends: Sensitivity Settings

We will be getting into the sensitivity settings first. That is to say, these will be the settings that you need to adjust on your mouse or controller before you get to start gaming, If you start a game and then keep changing the settings, it will cause a huge distraction, and you won’t be able to concentrate on your gameplay.

Mouse DPI and eDPI

This is something that everyone checks on when they get into a game. The right DPI of the game would help you play better, and it is always a struggle for players to find out which is the right DPI. However, of course, you can try it out for yourself and then decide. For your ease and reference, there are two of the most common DPI that pros use. They are either 400 or 800. If you have a heavy mouse, then we would recommend you go for a higher DPI and vice versa. Some people would even recommend you set your DPI at 1600, but that is quite rare, and not many people use it.

At first, you might be a bit concerned with how you have no coordination between your actions on the screen and the mouse, but it all depends on practice. If you can manage to get used to a certain DPI, you can also try to increase it by practising. Though this is not necessary, some players believe that playing at higher DPIs improves their game skills.

ADS Mouse Sensitivity Multiplier Settings

Another important setting that you need to look out for is the ADS (Aim Down Sight). Most of the time, the sensitivity for ADS is kept at 1, which is the default. However, many professional players consider that Apex Legends’ ADS sensitivity does not always feel right. They sometimes feel uncomfortable with a few scopes. This means that the sensitivity should have been different for different scopes and zooms. However, for the time being, there is only one sensitivity setting, and we have to make do with it.

If you feel like you are not feeling good with the 1 sensitivity setting, then you can go for 1.2 or 1.5. Those who feel that they are comfortable with a 1:1 conversion, and, depending on the type of scope that you will be using the most, should be dictating your ADS settings. Hence, if you do not feel comfortable with the default setting, then you can set it between 1.2 and 1.5.

Refresh Rate

You must be wondering what the refresh rate has got to do with the gameplay sensitivity settings. Well, if you do not have the proper refresh rate fixed, you will have problems getting accurate in the game. Of course, for any competitive shooting game, the basic minimum refresh rate is 144Hz. Hence, if your PC or device where you are playing the game can support 144Hz, then you will not have many problems. However, if your device goes for 60Hz, or lower, then you might need to get some extra help. This means that it would be best if you got an additional graphics card so that your game could run smoothly. Most professionals go for the 144Hz and set that to the basic minimum limit. It is quite common that the higher the refresh rate, the better your gameplay will be. However, having a 60Hz refresh rate does not completely degrade your gameplay. It might be a small hindrance, but if you can perform well at 60, then you can get better at 144.

Resolution

This is something that you might have to plan out if you do not have a high-spec gaming PC, and you need to get a good refresh rate. Refresh rate and resolution go hand-in-hand. This means that you will have to choose either of them. If you want to take in the graphics and the visuals of the game, then we would recommend giving resolution top priority. However, if you want to improve your gameplay, then you have to go for the refresh rate. Even if you do have a good gaming PC, it does not mean that you can always get the best resolution and the maximum refresh rate. Many times, you have to sacrifice one of them, to enjoy the other. Therefore, it is always best to keep your resolution at the default of 1920x1080. You can also set it at 1080p, which would not even affect your maximum FPS rate and would give a quality image on your screen. Though you might get extremely high graphics and detailed visuals on your screen, it will offer a crisp visual. Hence, you will get well-balanced gameplay and aesthetics.

Conclusion

These were some of the control and sensitivity settings that you might want to adjust properly before you hop on to a ranked competitive game, or even for unranked games. Of course, it is not a good idea to keep adjusting your settings in-game. However, we would recommend that you start playing with the default settings, and when you feel that something is off, then you can go ahead and change it. However, we do not think that you might have to change much from the default settings if you are a beginner, but if you do want, you can customise the settings according to your choice.
